Frost/ Nixon

If anyone was thinking of giving this movie a miss, perhaps thinking (as I did) that it was just some rehashed historical drama with B-plus grade actors, and a ready-made script, I'd urge you to think again. Its completely riveting!

It made me want to search around for snippets of the original interview (now out on DVD, I hear). Some of the original money material is below.

Yah. Great moofy. Frank Langella deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of Dick.

Yep - a masterclass performance from Langella. I actually went to the local flickhaus to see the latest Woody Allen, but got the times wrong.

Happy accident.

Well, they both have Rebecca Hall in them, but I'd have to say that Michael Sheen doesn't quite make up for the absence of Johansdottir.

Ah yes, Rebecca Hall (*desteams via collar*).

And Janstochter is of course why I was originally going to the othery.

And fair play to you. They really should refer to it as the latest Allen woody.

Heh.

Yes, he was saying recently he's less interested in acting since he became too old to be the romantic interest. Even by his own, erm, standards.

In the case of Hija de Juan, I am helpless against her awesome powers. Thats she happens to appear in good films is irrelevant; I would go anyway.

Any film incorporating dachshund-fondling gets my vote.

I did notice, though, that the "footage" of Frost in Sydney includes the universally loathed Toaster, erected in the late 1990s. The building conceals a cliff-face that used to bear (still does?) anti-Vietnam war graffiti in huge white letters. Woulda been an apposite bit of period detail, that.

Gute gespotted, mein Baron. I love a good film anachronism. I usually go for inaccurate period flag usage(eg the HILARIOUS blooper I saw once in a film which showed the Portuguese republican flag in a battle dated *before* the 1910 revolution - can you believe that??) but thats a nice spot. Extra points for national benefit, and local content. Im recommending you for promotion!

ARC grant, here I come.

(Am shocked about the Portuguese flag debacle. Shocked.)

Took me a while to cotton on to the Rougette, la fille de Jean thing, but then I am a bit slow.
