Apologies for being OT, but I don't know if I leave this comment in an older post, whether you'll ever see it.

Anyways, my question is this: what's with the Portuguese forts in Asia? Doing a PhD on them? Writing a book? Or just a hobby?

Whatever the reason, I am quite jealous!

I had kinda forgotten that impressive military architecture is not only located in Europe.

Hey Paulus

Dont worry, by "PFnA" threads are my favourites, and I DO check them.

So feel free to post there!

Its just a weird obsession of mine. I am an academic, but not in the erm, field of Portuguese fort studies.

I guess I like them as relics of a bygone era - and despite all their faults, there's something just plain interesting and heroic about the most busted-ass seafaring power in Europe doing it all first (in Asia), and leaving a trail of trading port entrepots and grand forts around the Indian Ocean rim.

I must confess I didn't actually despertarme tan temprano Liamista.

Not much of a morning muchacho, me.

Still: Ole!

Then you wouldn't have seen Klose copping an accidental boot to the balls or Luis Aragonés being thrown in the air post-victory, LE.
Both highlights of the live coverage that I haven't seen make the brief reels.
...
And good to see you around, Field Marshal.

Klose took one for the country, ay? Ayay!

Still, a no headbutt final is a good final.
